Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions

How do I get started with MCEBuddy?

+

You can check out the Illustrated User Guides for MCEBuddy which are in a video, pdf and doc format. You can also rest your mouse over any box, item, option or text in MCEBuddy to get instant pop up help within MCEBuddy itself.

How do I remove commercials from my recordings?

+

MCEBuddy can automatically detect or you can pre existing markers to remove commercials during the conversion process. In the "Settings > Conversion Task > Ad remover", select Comskip or ShowAnalyzer to automatically detect commercials if no existing ad markers are found. Select Use Markers to only use existing ad markers from EDL/VPRJ/XML files (that share the same name the original video) or embedded Chapter markers (enable Check chapters for Ad markers in "Conversion Task > Expert Settings"). Select Only detect Ads to identify and save ad markers in an EDL file without cutting them from the converted video

How do I use hardware acceleration?

+

MCEBuddy automatically detects compatible hardware and enables acceleration when available. To manually configure hardware acceleration, go to "Settings > Conversion Task > Advanced > Expert Settings" and select your preferred hardware encoder (NVIDIA NvEnc/CUDA, Intel QuickSync, or AMD VCE/AMF). Make sure you have the optimal graphics drivers installed for optimal performance.

What is Custom Cuts?

+

Custom Cuts is an application included that allows you to manually mark segments of a video to keep or remove. Right-click on a file in the queue and select "Open with Custom Cuts" to open the editor. You can then navigate through the video, mark in and out points for segments you want to remove or keep, and save your cuts in an EDL file. MCEBuddy will apply these cuts during conversion.
